Porsche's electrifying new sports saloon comes in January
Petrol-heads eat out your hearts, here’s Porsche’s first fully-electric sports car.
The famous German brand has gone all high tech for the future with the new Taycan series. It’s also taken a step away from its traditional coupe two-seater ground and designed the Taycan as a four-door sports saloon blending performance with practicality.
That also leaves more room to stuff in the advanced 800 volts power pack which generates a thumping 560kw or 761ps overboost through twin front and rear motors, shooting from rest to 62mph in 2.8secs in the Taycan Turbo S version and a range of 257 miles, with a limited top speed of 161mph.
A high power charging network plugged into for five minutes will give it a 62 miles range and reaches 80% of charge in 22.5mins.
It launches as two models, Taycan Turbo and Turbo S from £115,858 or £138,826, with deliveries beginning in January.
While retaining the visual Porsche look, inside its a completely new assault on the senses with a free-standing curved instruments screen inc. a 10.9inch infotainment display, fewer switches with voice commands instead, and upholstery from recycled materials.
It will come with a three-years charging card system for nationwide use and a single bill to the My Porsche account.
